SC Turns Down Plea to Probe Salman Khan’s Hit & Run Case Acquittal

The SC has termed a plea to probe Salman’s alleged use of money in influencing his acquittal a “wild allegation”.

The widow of the pavement-dweller Shaikh Noorulla Shafik who was crushed to death by Salman Khan’s SUV in 2002 and her son, a labourer, have moved the Supreme Court on Wednesday as the “forgotten victims” of his alleged crime. The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed their petition seeking a probe into whether Salman Khan and his family used money to secure the actor’s acquittal in the 2002 hit and run case, terming the plea a “wild allegation without any basis.”

Shafik’s widow, Begumjaha Haroon Khan, and son Firoz Shaikh, represented by SC advocate Vipin Nair, said that as victims, they were “an integral part of the justice delivery system and that they are not to be forgotten and left high and dry.”
