SC Rejects Somnath Bharti’s Bail Plea in Domestic Violence Case

AAP MLA Somnath Bharti’s bail plea was rejected by the apex court. His wife refused mediation to settle the dispute.

The Supreme Court has rejected AAP MLA Somnath Bharti’s bail plea in the domestic violence case filed by his wife Lipika Mitra.

Earlier today Mitra appeared before the Supreme Court and told a bench, headed by the Chief Justice of India HL Dattu, that she is unwilling to settle the dispute through mediation.

The apex court has directed the lawmaker to approach a lower court for regular bail, while directing the trial judge to consider Bharti’s plea in a day.
