The Saudi Arabian embassy has responded to the allegations of rape against the Saudi diplomat, saying they are “false and have not been proven”, reports PTI.
According to ANI, the embassy said they have brought to the notice of concerned MEA officials the “unwarranted media briefing before investigations are complete”. The embassy has also protested police’s intrusion into the diplomat’s house against all diplomatic conventions.
The Police Commissioner of Gurgaon said,
As per the allegations in the FIR, the offence was committed by the residents and guests of the address mentioned. We have established that the residents of the flat enjoy diplomatic immunity in India.
He added that the MEA’s letter to him said, “In order to determine future course of action you are required to file a detailed report.”
He said police are in the process of collecting evidence which will be given to MEA soon.
The Nepalese Ambassador also responded to the incident saying,
We received information from an NGO about the confinement and sexual exploitation of two nepalese women. We are in touch with the local police and Ministry of External Affairs. Our relations with the Saudi embassy are amicable. We will talk to them once the crime is established.
Two women who had alleged that they had been tortured, sexually assaulted and kept in bondage for months, were rescued from the Gurgaon home of a diplomat from Saudi Arabia. The Nepali women, aged 50 and 20, had been employed as domestic helps.
