Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati is once again under fire after making controversial remarks about Sai worshipers and women entering the sanctum sanctorum of Shani Shingnapur.
The Shankaracharya of Dwaraka-Sharda Peeth has blamed the worship of Sai as the reason for drought in Maharashtra.
But wait, Shankaracharya wasn’t done. He had more to say and this time, he targeted the woman activists who fought for their right to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the Shani temple at Shani Shingnapur.
Shankaracharya has made controversial statements in the past regarding the followers of Lord Sai and the issue of women entering the sanctum sanctorum of the Shani temple but this time, the insensitivity has been much higher.
Within minutes of the controversial statement, Shankaracharya was trending on social media, for all the wrong reasons.
Some suggest Shankaracharya is using an old trick of ‘threatening with disease and calamities’ while others feel he is following in the footsteps of Sadhus and Sadhvis before him.
Some even made a request for Shankaracharya to be charged for violating the law with his comments.
