Journo Held for Hiring Killers Gets Interim Bail on Health Grounds

Hi Bangalore editor, Ravi Belagere, arrested for hiring contract killers to kill his fellow journalist, Sunil Heggaravalli, has been granted interim bail. According to ANI, the journalist has got the interim bail on health grounds.

Sunil Heggarvalli told a TV channel that he was shocked to hear that a contract had been made to kill him and that he would be cooperating with the police in the investigation.

Ravi Belagere and Sunil Heggarvalli were close associates. However, Ravi suspected that Sunil was involved in an extramarital affair with his second wife, and soon became convinced of it. He then devised a plan to murder Sunil and hired a contract killer he had known for several years. His ploy was unveiled by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) during the Gauri Lankesh murder probe.

However, the SIT also concluded that neither Belagere nor the hired killers had anything to do with the murder of Gauri Lankesh.

According to a report by Scroll, the police had conducted searches in Belagere’s house in Bengaluru and recovered a revolver, a double barrel gun and ammunition after two gunmen, who were arrested for illegal possession of arms, tipped the police off.
