A seven-year-old girl has died while nine children, aged between eleven months and ten years, have tested positive with Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in the last 10 days in Arunachal Pradesh, a senior health official said today.

The nine positive cases were a result of 13 samples tested at the District Priority Laboratory (D L) under Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) in the Arunachal State Hospital (ASH) at Naharlagun.

According to Epidemiologist Dr L Jampa, a seven-year-old and a three-year-old were earlier detected in Kolaptukar village in Dollungmukh under Lower Subansiri district.

Out of the two, seven-year-old girl died at ASH Naharlagun on July 15 last, while the three-year-old girl from the area was undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
