Five were arrested and six others, including a techie were detained by the NIA on Wednesday, which claimed to have busted a “terror module” suspected to be linked to the Islamic State (IS) after conducting searches at different locations in the old city area in Hyderabad.
The NIA also recovered weapons, ammunition, urea, acid, electronic gadgets and other incriminating material besides Rs 15 lakh in cash from them, according to the information disseminated by the NIA and Hyderabad police officials.
Based on information from its sources, the NIA and the Hyderabad Police conducted searches in at least 10 locations in the early hours of Wednesday.
Among the seized arms, ammunitions and chemicals are two pistols, one airgun and pellets. 23 mobile phones, three laptops, and one tablet were seized during the raids.
Meanwhile, the BJP has taken the opportunity to use this as ammunition to attack the Telangana government. The BJP accused the government of displaying “criminal neglect” in preventing Hyderabad from becoming a “safe haven” for terror elements.
