Mohammad Gayusuddin, father of the main accused Mohammad Samiullah, was arrested on Sunday, in connection with the alleged rape of a girl in Bihar’s East Champaran (Motihari) district. Superintendent of Police Jitendra Rana informed that with Gayasuddin’s arrest from a place under Banjaria police station, all five accused in the case have been arrested.
The 21-year-old girl, in her complaint, had alleged that her neighbour Samiullah had raped her on 13 June at Jamui Tola village. A complaint had been lodged on June 15 in this regard.
Samiullah, the main accused in the case, was arrested from Chhitauni bus stand of Motihari town on 24 June, while his brothers – Mohammad Jabiullah, Mohammad Kalimullah and Mohammad Nusrullah – were arrested from Jhakia village under Banjaria police station on Saturday.
On the basis of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP)‘s report, two policemen have been suspended with immediate effect for alleged dereliction of duty and failure to arrest the culprits named in the case.
Radha Mohan Singh, Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister and Upendra Kushwaha, Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development met the victim’s family and enquired about her condition on Friday. The victim is admitted at Motihari Sadar Hospital.
Both the ministers demanded a speedy trial and stern action against the accused in the alleged rape case.
National Commission for Women (NCW) member Sushma Sahu had also visited the Sadar hospital on Friday to meet the alleged rape survivor.
Sahu, who expressed displeasure over the hospital’s role, sought the earlier medical report of the victim from the Civil Surgeon, besides seeking medical reports of rape incidents that have occured in the past ten years in East Champaran.
