Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took his place alongside other world leaders at Madame Tussauds in London.
Modi’s new wax figure arrived at the Baker Street attraction, fresh from Delhi, where it was displayed privately for him.
The figure is featured in the popular enclosure of “World Leaders” alongside other contemporary leaders such as Barack Obama, David Cameron, Angela Merkel and Francoise Holland, and political heavyweights of the past including Mahatma Gandhi and Winston Churchill.
Modi was closely involved in the creation of his figure and was delighted with the final results, declaring that the Madame Tussauds team are “exceptional at what they do”.
General Manager of Madame Tussauds London, Edward Fuller, said:
Modi’s figure is dressed in his signature creme coloured Kurta and a Nehru jacket. He is featured in a traditional pose making a namaste gesture.
The wax figure displayed in London is one of four statues created in the likeness of Modi, with the other three taking up residence at Madame Tussauds attractions in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
Each figure took a team of talented artists four months and cost 150,000 pounds to create.
