Police have detained Kashmir MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir on November 7, Saturday.

Rashid was detained in Kupwara district while he was on his way to Srinagar.

Hardline Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a rally – Srinagar Million March – during Modi’s visit on Saturday.

Following Geelani’s announcement, Separatist Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was also placed under house arrest and over 100 others were taken into preventive custody.

According to a report by Greater Kashmir, the Jammu-Srinagar highway will be closed for general traffic while pedestrian activity will be restricted.
