Yet another report of cruelty faced by Indian labourers in Saudi Arabia has emerged.
Abdul Sattar Makandar, who works as a driver for AL Suroor United Group in Saudi Arabia, has posted a video on YouTube, urging Kundan Srivastava, an activist, to bring him back to India.
Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj tweeted saying she has received a report from the company Makandar worked for.
A weeping Abdul describes the inhumane treatment that he’s been receiving in the country. Despite thirty months of labour, Abdul has been disallowed from coming home, neither has he been given his monthly salary or food to eat.
Many unemployed poor Indians are taken to Saudi Arabia by agencies, who lure them with fake promises of money and employment. More often than not, they face intolerable hardships in the hands of their employers.
Earlier in December, a video showing three youths from Kerala getting mercilessly beaten up by their Saudi employer had surfaced.
In another shocking incident, the hand of a domestic help was chopped off by her employers when she attempted to escape their house after years of ill treatment.
