MiG-21 Crashes in Budgam, Pilot Safe

A MiG - 21 plane of the Indian Air Force crashed in Budgam, Kashmir during a routine training sortie.

A Mig-21 Bison aircraft of the Indian Air Force has crashed in the fields in Budgam district, Kashmir today. The pilot managed to eject to safety.

The aircraft had taken off from Srinagar airfield and was on a routine training sortie.

Defence Spokesman Colonel SD Goswami said, “a Mig-21 Bison crashed in Soibugh area at around 10:59 AM. There was no loss of life reported in the incident.”

The pilot managed to eject from the plane “just in time” and he was retrieved from the crash scene by an army helicopter. A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the crash, the spokesman added.
