Former TMC leader turned BJP loyalist Mukul Roy has now claimed that West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met with Saradha Chit Fund boss Sudipta Sen multiple times, according to a Hindustan Times report.
In a speech in Kolkata, Roy added that he was present at a meeting in Delo, Kalimpong. He said that TMC MP Kunal Ghosh was also present.
This isn’t the first allegation against the West Bengal Chief Minister. Kunal Ghosh had also released a 91-page letter in 2014 that alleged that Mamata had met Sudipta Sen at a lodge in Delo, Kalimpong.
He’d added that he would reveal more details about his allegations, when “people gather in lakhs”
The CBI is currently probing the Saradha chit fund scam which resulted in losses of Rs 2,500 crore to investors. The CBI questioned a number of key TMC leaders over the course of the investigation.
Roy continued his attack, targeting Mamata’s foreign visits, questioning why “no investors come to West Bengal”.
Mamata refuted the former TMC leader’s attack at the inauguration of the Kolkata International Film Festival, stating that she visited London on Friday at the invitation of the Ramakrishna Mission.
Roy also took a dig at Mamata’s inauguration of the film festival, stating, “Mamata Banerjee has changed. While common people are dying of dengue, the chief minister is inaugurating a film festival.”
Roy announced that he was stepping down from the TMC on 25 September. He quit from his position as Rajya Sabha MP on 11 October. Roy has been a part of the TMC since its conception in 1997, by Mamata Banerjee.
