The main accused in NIA official Mohammad Tanzil Ahmed’s murder was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) police on Tuesday in Noida, an official said.
The accused, Muneer was arrested along with two associates. He was in Noida for the last three days.
A 9mm pistol was also recovered, the official said. Muneer had a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head.
Soon after his arrest, the UP police, NIA officials and the STF have jointly begun his interrogation, who is alleged to have shot Ahmed two dozen times on 13 April when he was returning from a family wedding in Budayun.
Ahmed’s wife had later succumbed to her injuries at a Delhi hospital.
Others accused in the high-profile murder were arrested soon after the killing.
