One of the convicts of the Rajiv Gandhi assassin case, Nalini Sriharan, was awarded a day’s parole (Tuesday 4 pm-Wednesday 4 pm) to attend her father’s death ceremony to be held on Wednesday.

Currently serving life sentence in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, Nalini had moved the Madras High Court seeking three days’ leave to attend the 16th day obsequies of her father, who passed away last month.

Granting the parole Justice R Mala said that no interviews should be conducted and forbade her to leave her house in Kotturpuram.

Nalini was sentenced to death by the trial court in the case on 28 January 1998. Her sentence was commuted to life term by the Tamil Nadu Governor on 24 April 2000.
