Although ideologically opposed to him, BJP leader Ram Madhav on Thursday lavishly praised the frugality of former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. Madhav said said Sarkar’s character was something that other leaders could emulate.
The comment came after Madhav called on Sarkar at the CPI-M office in Agartala to invite him for the oath ceremony of a new government in Tripura.
"True to his character, he (Sarkar) has shifted to the party office immediately after resigning as Chief Minister post the election. (This is) something for leaders to emulate," Madhav tweeted.
The CPI(M) state committee office will be Tripura's outgoing chief minister Sarkar’s new residential address, with the veteran leader shifting base on Friday, 9 March.
Sarkar, who has ran the state for more than two decades is reportedly in the process of checking out of his official residence on Marx-Engels Sarani. The office is just about 500 metres away his new home, CPI(M) state party secretary Bijan Dhar said.
He would reportedly "eat what is cooked in the party office kitchen", and has already sent packets of books and clothes to the party office.
