Union HRD Ministry has asked the Vice-Chancellor of Puducherry University Chandra Krishnamoorthy to go on leave.
The students of Puducherry have been on strike since July 27 to press their charter of demands, including removal of the Vice-Chancellor for alleged “administrative chaos” and “violation of human rights”.
Chief Secretary to Puducherry government, Manoj Parida, said yesterday that the Ministry has directed the Vice-Chancellor to go on leave pending inquiry into the allegations made against her.
The HRD Ministry had appointed a two member team comprising Joint Secretary to the UGC KP Singh and Director of Higher Education in the Ministry Amit Shukla – both of whom had spoken to the students, officials and staff of Puducherry University on August 6 and 7.
An inquiry has been on since the two-day visit.
