Hindu Headmaster Beaten Up In Bangladesh for ‘Insulting Islam’

In another instance of mob justice in Bangladesh, a Hindu teacher was beaten up for making ‘anti-Islam’ remarks.

• Shyamal Kanti Bhakta, a Hindu school headmaster was beaten up in Bangladesh by local people for allegedly making offensive remarks against Islam, while he was punishing a Muslim student for not studying.
  
• The incident prompted the government to launch a probe into the incident. Bhakta denied making any statement and claimed that the attack on him was part of a conspiracy.
  
• Bhakta was admitted in a local hospital under police protection. Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that action would be taken after the three-member inquiry committee submitted its report.
  
• Earlier, two Hindu teachers were jailed for six months for making blasphemous comments about Islam.
