Unidentified militants lobbed a grenade at the residence of Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, the son of former NC MLA Mohammad Subhan Bhat, in Tral town, located in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, 22 October.

"A CRPF trooper was injured in the explosion. He has been shifted to hospital for treatment," a police officer said.

This is the third grenade attack targeting politicians in south Kashmir in the last three days.

Earlier, militants hurled grenades at the houses of ruling PDP MLAs at Real and Zainapora in Shopian district.

Woman Shot at by Gunmen, Another Injured

Hours later, militants gunned down a woman and critically injured another in Pulwama district. The deceased woman has been identified as Yasmeena, a resident of Khonmoh, and the injured as Rubeena, a resident of Seer Tral, police said.

The wounded woman was taken to a Srinagar hospital where her condition was stated to be stable.

In a similar incident, a civilian died after militants allegedly opened fire in Anantnag's Aarwani, reported ANI. The deceased has been reportedly identified as Shakir Ahmad, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

Terrorist Killed in Handwara Encounter

One militant was killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara district early on Sunday morning.

Security forces recovered a grenade, rifle and Pakistani currency notes from the slain terrorist.
