French Couple’s Stabbing Was an Act of Terror: Francois Hollande

French President Francois Hollande, who chaired an emergency security meeting on Tuesday said that the stabbing of a police official and his wife was “incontestably a terrorist act”.
This statement comes after France and others have faced the brunt of increasing extremist violence in the last couple of weeks.
25-year-old Larossi Abbala, with a past terrorist conviction is suspected in Monday’s knife attack in the Paris suburb of Magnanville, according to police officials.
Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve who visited the police station where one of the victims, 42-year-old Jean-Baptiste Salvaing, worked said more than 100 people seen as potential threats have been arrested in France this year, including in recent weeks.
France, which is currently hosting the Euro 16 football series, has been on high alert and is under a state of emergency after the deadly Islamic State attacks in November.
