A 70-year-old woman was found dead on Thursday at her residence in the suburban area of Jogeshwari in Mumbai, with her throat slit, police said.
The deceased was identified as Mumtaz Badshah. According to the police,
Rashid who goes to work to Saki Naka around 9 am every day had called the deceased victim around 10:30 am on Thursday and had a conversation with her, a police officer said.
When he called her again around 12.30 pm, she did not pick up the call.
Mumtaz did not open the door for a long time when her relatives rang the door bell and when they peeped inside the room, they found Mumtaz lying in a pool of blood.
The door was then broken open and police were later informed.
“She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival,” police said. They have denied the possibility of robbery in the case and are going through the CCTV footage of the building.
The couple has two sons. One of them stays in Lokhandwala and would visit his parents’ house every afternoon to see them, while the other one stays in the US.
