The former Indian Air Force Chief SP Tyagi would be questioned by the Electoral Directorate in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam. He will soon receive a summon and will be called in for questioning.
An Italian court, Milan Court of Appeals made a statement saying that there is “reasonable belief that corruption took place” in the VVIP helicopter deal in 2010. According to reports, ex-IAF Chief, Tyagi was part of it.
Wading into the AgustaWestland row, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 28 April demanded action against “accused” Congress people saying anything to the contrary will suggest its “nexus” with the BJP.
Kejriwal termed as “damning” the Italian court’s judgement on the issue that cited handwritten references to Sonia Gandhi, her political secretary Ahmed Patel and former Air Chief SP Tyagi by a middleman.
The controversial Rs 3,600-crore VVIP AgustaWestland chopper deal and alleged bribes to the tune of Rs 360 crore paid rocked the Rajya Sabha as BJP sought to drag Sonia’s name into it.
