A group of friends, a woman among them, travelling in an SUV were allegedly chased down the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway just after midnight on Sunday by five unidentified men. The alleged attackers were apparently upset over the group of friends in the Mahindra Scorpio protesting against lewd remarks they had made at the woman, reports The Times of India.
The incident happened near IFFCO Chowk where the men smashed the windowpanes before shooting at the woman, Devi Shree (25) and a friend of hers, Sidhant Thakur (27) inside the car. Both are undergoing treatment in Gurgaon’s Medanta Hospital.
Around midnight, they had stopped at a liquor shop near Kapashera border; it was there that three men started passing comments on their female friend while five of them got down to buy some drinks.
The attackers fled in their car immediately after the attack. An FIR has been filed against the five unidentified men under 307 (attempt to murder) 34 (common intention to commit a crime) of Indian Penal Code and several others sections of Arms Act, at DLF Phase 2 police station.
