Delhi Judge Gets No Reply on ‘Dial 100’ Helpline, PIL Filed in HC

In a letter to the Commissioner of Police, a Delhi High Court judge has written about the “poor” response of the ‘dial 100’ emergency helpline service provided by the Delhi police.

Recounting a personal experience of calling up the helpline on 29 April and his call going unanswered, Justice Vipin Sanghi has addressed his letter to Alok Kumar Verma, as reported by The Times of India.

The letter was converted into a PIL on Tuesday by high court Chief Justice G Rohini who took suo motu cognisance of the issue.

Any call made to 100 should be answered immediately as it is very likely that it may be called by people in a grave emergency. In my view, this is a very serious issue that you need to look into, to make the service more effective and efficient.
