The current Executive Vice Chairman of The Energy Research Institute’s (TERI), RK Pachauri, filed his reply in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday concerning the sexual harassment charges levelled against him by a former colleague in February last year.

In the reply, Pachauri said that “the complainant’s original plea itself is motivated”. The former TERI chief also said that the complainant “has herself relocated to outside India for academic pursuits or other concerns.”

In July last year, Delhi police told the court that Pachauri was influencing witnesses, which the environmentalist rebutted in the reply.

Pachauri will now hold the post of Executive Vice Chairman which has been recently created. His lawyer, Ashish Dixit, however, said that the post was always there.

The post (executive vice-chairman) is in existence since the inception of TERI. The post was vacant. The allegation that there is a promotion is false too, rather it is a demotion.
