A Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) has told the court that former CBI chief Ranjit Sinha “interfered“ with investigations into key coal scam cases, reports The Times of India.
According to the report,
The SIT’s finding, submitted in a sealed cover to a bench of Justices Madan B Lokur, Kurian Joseph and AK Sikri, is based on an analysis of chargesheets filed by the CBI in coal scam cases during Sinha’s tenure as director.
From the SIT report, it appears that the reprimand from the SC, which was closely monitoring the probe, did not deter the then director from meeting certain persons at his residence without the presence of the investigating officers. The report also inferred from the documents that there was clear interference in the probe.
