Chittoor Mayor Double Murder Case: Corporator Hangs Himself
A municipal corporator hanged himself after being interrogated by the police in the Chittoor mayor murder case.

In a new twist to the Chittoor mayor Anuradha Katari and her husband Mohan Katari double murder case, a municipal corporator hanged himself after returning home from being interrogated by the police.
According to a report in The Times of India, the police had called P Sivaprasad Reddy (46), who is a independent corporator for questioning on Wednesday. The relatives have since alleged that Shivapasad had committed suicide due to police torture and guilt that the police had suspected him for the murder.
The couple was murdered on November 17, allegedly by their close relative K Ramachandra Sekhar (alias Chintu), who has since been arrested. The incident occurred at the Chittoor Municipal Corporation office last month after burqa clad men stabbed and shot at the couple, leaving the mayor and her husband dead. A motorcycle, clothes with blood stains and some live bullets were seized during the investigation.
Investigators later said that a power struggle was going on between the couple and Chintu who wanted his share of the spoils after Anuradha became mayor. He wanted Katari Mohan to project him as a TDP leader and insisted that people coming to meet the mayor be sent to meet him too. There were lots of bruised egos and financial disputes between them.
The police have so far arrested more than 10 people in the case and are on the lookout for four more people allegedly involved in the murder. The TOI report also added that the corporator, after returning home, bolted his room and killed himself at 11 am, an hour after his interrogation. The Chittoor police have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
