Six Killed, More Feared Trapped in Building Collapse in Chandigarh

Six labourers were buried alive when the roof of a liquor shop collapsed in Chandigarh’s Transport Area on Monday.

At least six people were killed when a liquor vend and tavern building collapsed in Chandigarh’s Sector 26 on Monday. Six other injured were admitted to the hospital. More people are feared trapped under the debris of the building.

The liquor vend building, according to the police, collapsed due to illegal construction activity being done in an adjoining plot. Earth was being dug in the adjoining plot to build a basement.

Rescue operations are being carried out.
