BJP today hit back at Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for his claim that three BJP leaders were involved in the Dadri lynching episode and termed it as an attempt to “cover-up” the failures of the Uttar Pradesh government.

The statement was made to deflect the attention of people from the real problems of the state ahead of the polls. The law and order has worsened under the SP government of four years.

BJP’s reaction came after Yadav claimed that at least three men involved in the Dadri killing belonged to the BJP and he can reveal their names if Prime Minister Narendra Modi asks him to.

He said the report submitted by the state administration to the central government on the Dadri matter does not talk about any “conspiracy” or “beef”. He wondered whether the report was wrong or the claim made by Yadav was incorrect.

Their (state government’s) report to the central government on the matter did not mention words like ‘conspiracy’ or ‘beef’. So how can they give such statements now...It shows their frustration and fear of losing the power in polls.

Meanwhile in Lucknow, state BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak dared Yadav to name the persons behind the lynching incident and take action against them. He also accused the SP supremo of doing “dirty politics” on the issue of the Dadri lynching case.

Yadav said that he knows the names of those behind the lynching incident. Then why did he not disclose the names and why his government does not take action against the guilty.

“He is aware of those behind lynching in Dadri, but when it comes to taking action he hesitates. All this falls in the category of crime. If Yadav is so justice-loving, then he should name the persons and take action against them,” he said, and alleged, “in reality the SP supremo is only doing dirty politics on these issues.”

Pathak also alleged that Yadav was blaming the BJP just to create doubt in the mind of the minority community as he was scared of his shifting vote bank.

Yadav is very well aware that minorities are tilting towards BJP due to welfare and development works being done by Modi government within a short span.

In September last year, 50-year-old Akhlaq was beaten to death and his son Danish seriously injured after being attacked by the mob on rumours of consuming beef.

The incident triggered widespread public as well as political outrage, with the opposition parties accusing BJP.

Pathak also said Yadav should first control his ministers and leaders, whom he has accused of indulging in corruption.
