The Dindoshi Sessions Court has granted interim relief to TVF CEO Arunabh Kumar who is facing charges of sexual assault.
On 29 March, an FIR was lodged against him at the MIDC police station by a 27-year-old writer-director, a few weeks after multiple women had taken to social media to talk about how Kumar had assaulted them on many occasions. The police served him with summons to begin investigating him on the charges of outraging a woman’s modesty, sexual harassment of the nature of unwelcome physical contact and demand or request for sexual favours.
A day after MIDC police registered a case against Kumar, another FIR was filed against him by a former employee of his at Versova Police Station, Mumbai.
Kumar approached the Sessions Court for anticipatory bail on Friday, maintaining that the cases against him were untrue and that he was innocent. Kumar, who according to the police, “was nowhere to be found these days”, approached the court and assured it of his cooperation with the police’s investigation.
On Sunday, the Dindoshi Sessions Court ordered the police to not arrest Kumar and granted him interim protection till tomorrow.
