Under Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Anand Joshi who was arrested on Sunday under corruption charges, had tried to leak documents from the ministry to the Ford Foundation, according to a report by The Times of India.
In 2015, Joshi had offered to share the minutes of a ministry meeting regarding registration of a US-based donor in Delhi, the report claims.
Joshi had approached a Ford Foundation official named Tuhina Sunder from its Delhi office in Lodhi Road gardens area in Delhi on 8 July 2015.
Joshi is currently under arrest for issuing arbitrary notices to NGOs under Foreign Contributions Regulation Act (FCRA).
The CBI is expected to question representatives of NGOs whose names have cropped up during its probe against Anand Joshi. The agency has alleged that the files of organisations like Care India, Snehalya Charitable Trust, Indian HIV/AIDS Alliance and All India Primary Teachers Federation were recovered from him.
CBI claims that the representatives of some of these organisations were called and Joshi demanded and obtained illegal gratification.
The sources said Joshi would be confronted with the records seized by the agency from the Home Ministry.
