One soldier lost his life, and three others were injured in an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday, 21 November.
The encounter started in the afternoon in Kupwara’s Gujjarpati forests, where terrorists were believed to be trapped. The operation is still underway.
According to a report by Greater Kashmir, a joint team of the Army’s 23 Para commandos, 160 TA, SOG and CRPF cordoned off the area upon inputs of presence of militants there. As the operation got underway, the hiding terrorists opened fire on the forces.
Earlier in the day, three Lashkar-e-Taiba Pakistani militants were killed in a gunbattle with security forces in Handwara area of Jammu and Kashmir.
