Members of activist Aruna Roy’s Jawabdehi Yatra claimed that associates of a BJP MLA attacked them in Jhalwar (Rajasthan) on Saturday, as per media reports.
Roy is always known to voice against the Government’s schemes and this attack allegedly by BJP legislator Kunwar Meena’s supporters might be a result of such a fallout. Reports also suggest that activist Nikhil Dey was present and was attacked.
The attack reportedly took place in police presence.
Roy had earlier (in May last year) held a protest demanding justice against the dalit killing in Jaipur’s Dangawas at Civil Lines Phatak. She also received a blow when the Supreme Court refused to stay the Rajasthan panchayat elections early last year. She had moved the PIL against a Rajasthan ordinance on minimum education for candidates contesting panchayat and zila parishad elections.
