In a press release by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), it is claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is the only state recognised party of Delhi and it saw an increase of 275% in donations from FY 2013-14 to FY 2014-15, which is much higher than the national parties’ total increase of 151%.
Total donation made to AAP in this duration was Rs 44.71 crore. A total of Rs 2.68 crore was collected via 3326 donations during FY 2014-15 which were below Rs 20,000; the party had not made similar declarations during FY 2013-14.
Almost 25 percent (24.65 percent) of the total donations for AAP came from outside India.
Name, address and PAN details of 111 donors, who together, contributed Rs 91.47 lakh (each donation above Rs 20,000), were not available in the donations reports of AAP. Name and PAN details were unavailable for 42 donors who contributed Rs 22 lakh while other information such as address and mode of payment were declared. While name of donors were available, address and PAN of 137 donors who donated Rs 3.02 crore to AAP during FY 2013-14 and FY 2014-15 were unavailable.
None of the top 10 donors have provided complete details of the mode of payment of the donations. Bajaj Electoral Trust donated Rs 3 crore during FY 2014-15 by cheque but the cheque number was not declared.
It should be noted that there were 2 donors by the name of Priya Bansal, one who donated Rs 36 lakh but did not provide address or PAN details or complete mode of contribution and the other Priya Bansal had provided complete address and PAN details in all the seven donations she had made for a total amount of Rs 34 lakh.
The donors could not be verified due to incomplete information and hence their donations were not clubbed.
