Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has made yet another attempt to silence the controversy around his comments on “intolerance” once and for all.
Speaking at an event, where the screenplay book of Rang De Basanti was released, Aamir expressed his sentiments about the rage that was sparked by his comments.
The actor also said that several comments that weren’t made by him but were reported by the media. He said, “I blame the media for brutally twisting my statements”.
In November, Aamir said he has been “alarmed” by the number of incidents of intolerance. The comment that got him into trouble was the one where he said his wife Kiran Rao even suggested they should consider leaving the country.
Aamir said people’s reactions about what he said left him hurt.
Aamir Khan is not the only one who faced criticism for his comment on intolerance. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan faced scathing judgement when he said that India has “extreme intolerance”.
Khan also took the opportunity to set the record straight on the recent buzz about him working with actor Sunny Leone. The question came up during the latter’s much-talked about interview on CNN-IBN.
Leone was asked whether an actor like Aamir would share the screen with her given “her past” making a reference to her career in the adult film industry. While Leone was apprehensive, Khan said he wouldn’t mind working with her at all.
He also lauded the grace with which Leone faced the interviewer’s questions.
