60 Killed in Triple Truck Bomb Attack in Syria

While no terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility, the Kurdish security force, blamed the attack on ISIS.

Three truck bomb explosions took place in the town of Tell Tamer in Syria’s north-eastern Al Hasakah province killing up to 60 people and injuring more than 80 people on Thursday.

The blasts occurred near a Kurdish militia forces field hospital and in the crowded Souk Al Jumla market square, where the majority of the fatalities occurred. The vehicles were allegedly packed with large amounts of explosives, which also inflicted significant damage to nearby buildings and infrastructure.

While no terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, the Kurdish security force, Asayish, blamed the attack on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in a statement published on their website.

According to an article by RT, The Syrian conflict has taken the lives of more than 250,000 people, as per UN estimates. The humanitarian crisis has internally displaced over 6.5 million Syrians and forced 4.3 million to flee the country. They have sought refuge in neighbouring countries and Europe.
