The QS World University Rankings 2018 have placed Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay in the top 200 rankings for the first time. The institute has made a 40-point jump from its previous spot of 219 to 179.

IIT-B, however, is not the only Indian institute to have made it to the top-200 universities of the world. IIT-Delhi is on 172 (previously on 185th), while the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) is on the 152nd spot (previously on 190th).

A report by The Indian Express quotes Devang Khakhar, Director, IIT-B, as saying:

The improved ranking is a reflection of the continuous improvement of the quality of education and research at IIT-Bombay.

The QS World University Rankings, released on Wednesday for 2018, uses six focal points to compile their list of top universities.

While these three Indian institutes jumped in their rankings, University of Mumbai and University of Pune dropped. Both universities were in under 700 last year, but now the are in the 800-1,000 bracket.
