A teenager, who was a Class 12 student at a private school, died after jumping from the 11th floor of his Gurugram high-rise building late on Monday, 4 May, Gurugram Police told The Quint.

According to the police, the incident took place in DLF Phase 5, Sector 53. No note has been recovered from the spot and police have obtained the boy’s phone, which will be sent for forensic examination.

Police are also probing allegations made against the 12th grader by a girl on social media, in which she had accused him of sexual assault. When asked about these allegations, an officer in the know said “yes, we are aware of these allegations and are probing them. Nothing conclusive has been found yet.”

Without mentioning the allegation, Gurugram Police Spokesperson Subhash Boken also said that they are “looking into all angles.”

He had earlier said that so far, the police hasn’t been able to confirm the cause behind the boy’s decision to take his life.

“He jumped from the 11th floor of a housing complex in DLF Phase 5 last night. So far, we have not recovered any suicide note and there is no reason that could lead us to the cause of death. Investigation into the matter is underway.”
