Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Friday, 8 May, said that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the remaining exams for classes 10 and 12 between 1 to 15 July, 2020. According to the board, the schedule of these pending exams will be declared in a couple of days, although no exact date for the same has been mentioned so far.
The decision was announced by Pokhriyal on Twitter, who also said that exams for subjects that could not be conducted in north-east Delhi, will also be conducted within the same period. He clarified that if a student in North-East Delhi has already appeared for a paper that was rescheduled for those who could not, he or she won’t have to appear for it again.
The announcement comes close on the heels of a live on Tuesday, 5 May, during which Pokhriyal had said that dates for CBSE exams would soon be declared. However, the HRD Ministry’s decision to go ahead with board exams comes after Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who’s also the state’s education minister, urged the central government to employ internal assessment and cancel pending exams.

However, the CBSE clarified that Class 10 board examinations in six key subjects will be held in North East Delhi, where mass-scale violence had led to exams being postponed. These are the six subjects:
For the Class 12 Board examinations across India, the CBSE has confirmed that it will only conduct examinations in 12 subjects.
These include, Business Studies, Geography, Hindi (Elective), Hindi, Home Science, Sociology, Computer Science (Old), Computer Science (New), Information Practice (Old), Information Practice (New), Information Technology and Bio-Technology.
In North East Delhi, the CBSE will conduct the following exams for Class 12.
