Dear Reader,
Starting 2017, Class 12 Board marks will no longer be considered for the JEE 2017 rank. You have decent marks and you should be able to apply to some of the better colleges. You can look at the following engineering colleges in Gujarat:
Besides these, Gujarat is also home to the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT) and Sardar Vallabh Bhai National Institute of Technology, Surat (NIT). Now that the 2017 JEE Advanced Results are out, you can try your luck at these premiere institutes. You can even see the seat matrix basis the 2017 JEE Advanced score.
Dear Satyam,
In order to pursue a Master’s level degree in the United States, it is mandatory to have completed 10+2+4 (16) years of education in total. With the diploma that you are pursuing, you will complete 10+3 (13) years of education. A full-time bachelor’s degree will give you more credits than a diploma-level degree and will add to your candidature accordingly.
We suggest that you consider the BTech Lateral Entry option. After completing that, you can pursue your aspirations of pursuing higher education abroad.
Dear Raushan,
Since the JEE Main 2017 cut-off for OBC-NCL category is 49 marks, you are definitely eligible to apply for the central counselling for admission to NITs and IIITs. However, seats in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) get filled up by the top rankers in each category since it is one of the premier branches.
If you want to pursue CSE, then you should consider applying for counselling in your state. This will give you an advantage as most of the state colleges give preference to the native candidates. By applying for the government and other colleges in the state, you will have a good chance of securing a seat in the CSE programme.
However, if you are open to choosing other branches, you can definitely consider applying for NITs. For estimated JEE Mains 2017 opening and closing ranks of NIT check the following link: NITs – Opening and Closing Ranks
95 in each of the sciences (physics, chemistry and mathematics) is an impressive score. With a result as good as yours, you can apply for any of the course or college. If you want to make a career in Science only, then you can consider applying for DU undergraduate courses including Physics (Hons), Chemistry (Hons), Botany (Hons), etc.
There is a good chance that you will make it to top colleges, including Hindu College, Hans Raj College, Shri Venketshwara Colleges, etc. Click here for top 10 science colleges of DU. Pharmacy courses also hold a lot of merit and can offer you a promising career. Learn more about the Pharmacy field here.
You can also look for career options in fields other than science. IT, Management and Commerce are some of the bright fields that you can consider if you are open to switching fields. Click here for some non-medical career options.
It is up to you to decide the course that you want to pursue. Consider the subject that you like studying and choose the course that you want to apply for.
All the best.
Dear student,
Your JEE Mains & Punjab Agricultural University CET scores are good, and you have decent expectations from JEE Advanced. We suggest you pursue B Tech if you have the interest (being interested in the specialisation and scoring are very different), inclination and skill set to do so.
A Tech degree at NIT or PEC should be your first option. If agriculture interests you, then opt for BSc Agriculture from Punjab Agriculture University. And now since the JEE Advanced results 2017 have been announced, you may want to see if you get an IIT or a more popular NIT. Check out the seat matrix basis JEE Advanced Scores. Good luck.
Dear Nitin,
If you pursue a career and take up courses in the field of management, you will learn about the different domains of Management that include Marketing, Finance, Operations, Sales, Human Resources etc.
However, if you’re interested in working in a technical field, we suggest that you pursue an engineering/science/computer course at the Bachelor degree level. Later after gaining a work experience in this field, you can prepare for MBA entrance exams and complete your post-graduation in the management field. Considered as an ideal combination, Science + MBA or Computer Applications + MBA or Engineering + MBA can help you grab the best of opportunities in the technical field.
Needless to say, it comes down to what you are interested in and what your current academic background is.
