A non-cognisable complaint has been filed against film producer Prernaa Arora by 60-year-old masseuse, Khairun Mukhtar Ahmed.

Prernaa, who has worked in films like Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Rustom and PadMan, reportedly assaulted and abused her masseuse when questioned about her pending bills, according to a report in Mumbai Mirror.

The Meghwadi police said Khairun, a resident of Santacruz, had been providing her services as a masseuse since a decade. Prernaa reportedly used to call her for massages between midnight and 8 am, and was promised a payment of Rs 75,000 per month. But she hasn’t received any payment since the last five months.

“I was desperate for money, first to pay for my husband’s cancer treatment and after his death, to pay off the loans,” Ahmed said in her complaint.

Khairun claims that when she asked Prernaa about pending payments, the producer wrote her a cheque for Rs 1.25 lakh, which bounced. When Khairun went to visit Prernaa, the producer “argued, beat her up and shut the down in her face”.

Khairun has lodged a complaint registered under sections 504 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke breach of peace) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC.

Prernaa will soon be questioned in the matter, said the police to Mirror.

Countering the complaint, the producer has claimed that Khairun tried to “steal around Rs 56,000 from her house and was caught by the bodyguards”.

Speaking about the pending payment, Prernaa told Mumbai Mirror, “It’s a very small amount and if Khairun Ahmed has any bills and invoices, she will be paid immediately.”

Prernaa and her company, KriArj Entertainment has made headlines for all the wrong reasons in the past as well. In April, John Abraham filed three criminal complaints against Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment, who was initially co-producing Parmanu with him.

In his official complaint, John wrote, “John Abraham, Director of M/s JA Entertainment has filed three criminal complaints against Prernaa Arora and her company, KriArj Entertainment for cheating, breach of trust, defamation and offences committed under the Information Technology Act.

Arora’s KriArj Entertainment has had a fallout with director of Kedarnath, Abhishek Kapoor. The film is now being produced by Ronnie Screwvala.

Co-founded by Prernaa, KriArj Entertainment has recently also pulled out of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Fanne Khan besides Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu coming to halt due to pending payments.
