Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi made a pretty impressive speech in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. His remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “one-man show” probably brought the energy back to the grand old party. But External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley absolutely do not agree with his point of view.
The three top ministers from the Modi cabinet hit back at the Congress party and even accused Rahul Gandhi of misleading the Parliament.
The Congress Vice President said that when the prime minister had taken decisions over signing the Naga peace accord with NSCN (IM)’s Isak Muivah even officials in the home ministry did not know about the deal. However, Home Minister Rajnath Singh refuted the comments and alleged that the Congress vice president “misled” the House by making “false and baseless” statements.
Rahul alleged that the UPA had diplomatically cornered Pakistan over the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. But Modi’s impromptu meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Lahore had “destroyed” that equation.
Rahul hinted that keeping the external affairs ministry out of loop while making such decisions is proof that Modi does not care for the opinions of his own Cabinet.
Sushma Swaraj, the External Affairs Minister vehemently disagreed and claimed that Modi had indeed consulted her before dropping by.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley took to social media to explain the difference between the UPA’s system of functioning and the NDA’s style.
Jaitley said, “After hearing Shri Rahul Gandhi, I think India has made the right choice between the Prime Minister who leads the Government and a Prime Minister who is merely implementing decisions taken elsewhere”. Click on the link to read the full post.
