Equity markets closed with losses on Monday, 30 September, as both Sensex and Nifty slipped close to half a percent during the day’s trading.
The 30-share BSE index lost 155.24 points to close at 38,667.33, while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty finished at 11,477.25, down 35.15 points.
The losses came mainly on back of poor performance of bank and financial stocks as the Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Financial Services sub-indices lost 3.47 percent, 2.74 percent and 2.05 percent, respectively.
Metal stocks were under pressure as well.
Analysts attributed the sluggishness in markets to subdued global cues. Asian markets too were trading mixed as investors continued to watch developments on the US-China trade front.
Reports suggested that the White House was considering curbs on US investments in China.
