A case has been registered against a pastor for allegedly sexually assaulting a 24-year- old woman in Andhra Pradesh’s Machilipatnam, the police said on Wednesday.
The crime came to light on Tuesday after the victim lodged a complaint against the pastor.
In the complaint, she stated that she was raped by the priest Joel Rachel, who also threatened to release her morphed photographs taken by him, they said.

Activists Gautam Navlakha and Anand Teltumbde approached the Supreme Court on Wednesday seeking more time to surrender in connection with the Bhima Koregaon case.
Their lawyer told SC that considering both of them are more than 65 years old and have heart ailments, going to prison at the time of the coronavirus outbreak is "virtually a death sentence".
Meanwhile, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta opposed the plea and said this was only a mechanism to buy time. The apex has reserved its order on their plea.

A fire broke out on the second floor of the trauma centre at Lucknow's King George's Medical University late in the night on Wednesday, 8 April.
Fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames, police said. No patient was injured in the incident as they were promptly shifted to a safer place, an official said.
