Israeli opposition leader Benny Gantz will be given the first opportunity to form a new government after an inconclusive national election this month, the country’s president said on Sunday, 15 March, raising questions about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political future.
The decision by President Reuven Rivlin was announced by his office after he consulted with leaders of all of the parties elected to parliament. He will formally designate Gantz with the task on Monday and give him a month to cobble together a governing coalition.

One of the two survivors of the 1988 Indian Airlines plane crash in Ahmedabad in Gujarat was found dead at his residence in Prahladnagar locality, police said on Monday.
The body of Ashok Agarwal (61) was found on March 8 in a decomposed condition inside his flat located in Noble Nagar Housing Society where he lived alone, police said.
He said prima facie it is a natural death.

A big fire erupted in a godown in Sewri area in Mumbai on Monday, a fire brigade officer said.
He said no one was injured in the incident which occurred around 11:15 am at the godown located near a hotel on Fosberry Road.
At least 11 fire engines were rushed to to spot and efforts are underway to douse the blaze.

The Telangana Legislative Assembly on Monday adopted a resolution against the CAA, NPR and the NRC.
It urged the Centre to amend the Citizenship Amendment Act "to remove all references to any religion, or to any foreign country" in view of apprehensions among a large section of people in India.
The resolution, moved by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, said members were concerned over the proposed implementation of the National Population Register and National Register of Citizens, "which may result in exclusion of a large number of people".
