At least 19 Sikh pilgrims have died and 8 injured in an accident due to a passenger vehicle colliding with Karachi to Lahore train, Shah Hussain Express, in Pakistan, Geo News reported.
According to the report, dead bodies have been shifted to a local hospital.
It also adds that according to railway officials, the accident took place at a train crossing without a barrier.
Expressing his grief, PM Modi took to Twitter to pay condolences to the families of those killed.
"I pray that those pilgrims injured recover at the earliest," he added.
Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said that, in view of the accident, railway's operational safety SOPs will be reviewed.
"My condolences and prayers go to the families of the deceased. Have directed relevant authorities to ensure facilitation and care for all the families. Our entire railway's operational safety SOPs will be reviewed immediately," he said in a tweet.
