Four fresh incidents of chopping of women’s braids were reported from different parts of Bulandshahr in the past 24 hours, police said on Friday.

Two cases were reported from Younuspur village where Bilkish (45) and Jaishree (24) claimed that their plaits were cut off, SP (City) Praveen Ranjan said.

A similar case has also been reported in Salempur Jat village where a 45-year-old woman claimed that her braid was chopped off.

In Khurja town in the district, a Class IX student while returning from her tuition on Friday morning became another victim of braid chopping, Ranjan said.

He said the police have not yet received any written complaint related to these incidents. “This is an organised propaganda,” the SP added.

Similar cases have been reported in neighbouring states in the past couple of days.
