Come October, not only will Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders attend Ramlila events, they will also participate as actors in the shows. Union Minister Harsh Vardhan and Delhi BJP Chief Manoj Tiwari will reportedly play the roles of King Janak and vaanar prince Angad, respectively.

Other BJP leaders who will take part as actors in the show includes Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Vjiay Sampla and Opposition leader in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, reported Hindustan Times. Assam’s governor Jagdish Mukhi will also reportedly take part in the Ramlila.

According to the newspaper report, the leaders have picked roles that require just one-day appearance in the nine-day event, which will be held in Delhi’s Red Fort ground.

The Ramlila Committee, which is responsible for organising the show, told Hindustan Times that the idea to include ministers as performers was conceived as a part of the plan to rope in people from all walks of life. He added that even sportsmen will be a part of the event.

Since their role requires them to deliver a few lines, they have promised us to give their best shot. All the participants will be wearing the traditional attire required for the roles, which will be designed by costume designers in Mumbai who have been part of TV serials and Bollywood films.
