Can you imagine a day without PUBG? Well, you may as well prepare for it, as the popular mobile game might get banned across India for being too ‘addictive’. In fact, the ban has already come to effect in Gujarat and several players who violated the ban have been arrested.

‘PUBG: Mobile or Player Unknown Battleground’, is one of the most popular mobile games of our generation. It’s mad popularity among children, teens and young adults has worried parents across the country, especially after reports of accidents due to the game were flagged. Many parents have also complained that it has hampered their wards’ education. Other issues with the game seems to be its violent content.

But is a ban like this really the solution? And can you really blame a game for an overall lack of regulation in the mobile game market? Ask several PUBG lovers and gamers across the country.

‘When will people stop being silly?’

Others question why banning PUBG was the government’s top priority when other more addictive and dangerous substances are freely available in the market.

As of now Tencent, the makers of the game, have given an official response to the ban, stating that they are checking if it is legally feasible for the government to ban a game.

At the same time they have reiterated that internationally PUBG is a 16+ playable game targeted at young adults. In order to enforce the age restriction, the makers would now require any user below the stipulated age to take permission from their guardians to play the game.
