After warning us for seven whole seasons with ‘Winter is coming’ - ready or not - our heroes in Game of Thrones are finally face-to-face with the Night King and his army of dead in episode 3.
If you were impatient with the lack of ‘action’ in the first two episodes of the season, rest assured, HBO has massive plans for the ‘Battle of Winterfell’ - rumored to be the most epic battle sequences television audience has ever scene.
The makers of the show have revealed how episode 3 promises a 90 minute long war sequence that took 55 days to film. And the preview of the upcoming episode gives us a taste of that.
The preview opens with the massive army of unsullied - brought to Winterfell under Daenerys’ command - in formation to face off the white walkers. Their leader, Greyworm puts on his helmet before taking charge.
Between rows and rows of soldiers and catapults ready to throw fireballs, you have the Dothraki ready to charge into the battle.
As we get a glimpse of all the main characters - looking tensed and harrowed - we are left with this words: “The Night king is coming.”
The scene cuts to Arya desperately running away from something in the crypts - a recurring scene from the trailers of the season. Will she survive episode 3?
We also catch a glimpse of Theon Greyjoy aiming a fire arrow. As we learn from episode 2, he has promised to stay back and protect Bran Stark along with the other Ironborn, while Bran tries to lure the Night King into the Godswood. Does the plan work? We can’t tell from the preview.
it ends with newly Knighted Brienne of Tarth shouting her war-cry before charging on.
Daenerys leaves us with this line: the dead is already here.
Does that mean the White Walkers have already infiltrated Winterfell?
